2013 has been an interesting year for fans of Pixar, as after a rather tight lid had been kept on all things besides Monsters University, a large amount of content, related to both forthcoming and past projects have hit the web.

It all started with a peak at concept art for their 2014, 2014 and 2016 releases, which appeared on a New Year’s celebration card sent to ComingSoon.net.

May 30th, 2014’s The Good Dinosaur

June 19th, 2015’s Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind

and the 2016 release, currently named The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dia de los Muertos.

All looks really cool, right?

Next, from artist Katy Wu, we had a full gallery of artwork from the unproduced film Newt. Newt, if you recall, was set to be the Summer 2012 release from Pixar, but was later announced cancelled. Rumor is the similar plot of Rio was what killed the project, but darn if the artwork isn’t pretty.

Finally, in what I feel like is the most exciting reveal, we have our first look at the short attached to Monsters University, titled The Blue Umbrella.  A brief clip was uploaded by The Wall Street Journal yesterday, and the look is absolutely astonishing - the most lifelike CG they’ve created yet.  Usually, the shorts serve as a testing ground for Pixar animators, which leads me to ask…what are they working on now? I think it’s safe to say that even for those who considered Brave a misstep (not I), or are skeptical of Monsters University (yeah, that’s me), Pixar is still working hard to create magic. Color me very excited for this next round of films.
