It sure seems like Spring 2013 runs far longer in the eyes of developer Rockstar Games, as they’ve officially announced a formal release date for Grand Theft Auto V.

The fifth game in the super popular open-world gun and grab series will hit shelves on September 17th, 2013. Rockstar had originally pushed a Spring release, even starting pre-orders with such a  release date, but has pushed back the game for fine tuning.

Perhaps overseeing not just one, but three protagonists in the biggest open-world they’ve ever created is proving a bit more difficult than expected? Or they just wanted some of that sweet holiday cash.

Either way, Grand Theft Auto V will be hitting your PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year. Unless it’s pushed back. Again.
