Earlier this week, the team at Mondo hinted that the next of their highly successful “Mondo Mystery Movie” screenings would be coming down the pike, and today, it was revealed…and I don’t think anyone expected this film, nor the pairing of artists creating a poster for it.

On Saturday, February 16th, 2013 in Houston, Texas, Mondo will present a screening of the 2000 Japanese Cult Classic Battle Royale, and it will feature a collaborative poster from veteran Mondo artist Kevin Tong and Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley.

In short, it’s everything I’ve ever wanted.

Of course, this poster is exclusive to the screening, so if you’re one of the lucky 170 able to attend (there are 125 tickets still left at the time of this writing, according to the link), you can drop $85 to attend the screening, get the poster, and also meet O’Malley after the movie.

That said - the poster is mentioned as a variant, which means for those of us who can’t get to Texas, we may just see a standard edition available sometime in the near future. If we do, Blast-O-Rama will be among the first to let you know. Promise!

EDIT: That was fast! Thanks to the team at Badass Digest, we have the details on the standard poster release - it will be a part of a Tugg.com promotion.

In short, if you successfully get enough tickets pre-sold to a screening of Battle Royale in your town, they will bring the film (and the standard poster, below) to your theater!

It’s like a mixture of Kickstarter, Mondo and one of the best cult films EVER MADE. Here’s the full link with details.
