2013 is looking like another big year for computer animation. We’ve long been covering the ascent of Pixar’s latest film, Monsters University, so it only stands to reason that we’d share with you the latest poster, a great mix up of all the new cast members, featured at the top of this post.

What’s very new, however, is the below poster, our first official look at Cloudy with a Chance of  Meatballs 2.

The original Cloudy was one of those movies that should not have been as good as it was, but between the inspired writing, strong direction and fantastic voice cast, it rose above what could have been a poor premise - and made for one of the funniest and most enjoyable films of 2009 - one which stands proudly on my Blu-Ray shelf.

Sadly, the directors of the first film, Chris Miller and Phil Lord (who also helmed last year’s 21 Jump Street) are not returning, since they’re working on the LEGO movie for WB, but I’d still say there’s a shot for Cloudy 2 to work out. Here’s your plot synopsis:

In the wake of the disastrous food storm at the end of the first movie, Flint Lockwood and friends are forced to leave their town of Swallow Falls. But when it is discovered that sentient food beasts have overrun the island, they are asked to return to save the world…again.

Monsters University hits on June 21st, 2013 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 releases on September 17th, 2013.
