While we love to debate it, the $400 Million worldwide gross of Prometheus indicates that while not necessarily everyone loved the film - there certainly were many who wanted to see it.

And with that in mind, it looks like 20th Century Fox is moving ahead with, at least, the scripting stage.

During promotion for the film Dead Man Down, The Playlist spoke with Prometheus lead Noomi Rapace, who indicated that a script is in the works:

They're working on the script. I met Ridley in London a couple of weeks ago. I would love to work with him again and I know that he would like to do another one. It's just like we need to find the right story. I hope we will.
Rapace goes on to indicate that she cannot name the screenwriter hired, but given that Prometheus writer Damon Lindelof is currently busy with both an HBO plot and his collaboration with director Brad Bird, Tomorrowland, clearly, it's not him.

Personally, I enjoyed Prometheus in the theaters (although it clearly pales in comparison to Alien), and I feel like with a stronger hand, a sequel could work. I’m not sure if the general audience truly is chomping at the bit for it however. We shall see.
