As we told you about last October, DC Comics is making the very smart move to launch a brand new Superman series alongside the theatrical debut of the long-awaited Man of Steel.

Now, thanks to USA Today, we have our first official look at the book, plus the title for the comic - Superman Unchained.

Pairing white-hot writer Scott Snyder (Batman) with legendary comic artist Jim Lee, Superman Unchained will be launching on June 12th, just 2 days before the release of the film on June 14th.

Lee and Snyder are working hard to redefine the classic comic character for a new generation, and luckily enough, the first hit is free. As a part of the Free Comic Book Day giveaway book from DC Comics on May 4th, the first Superman story from the pair will be published.

The book’s success is a no-brainer - big name writer plus a big-name artist should ring up well at your local comic store - but can they keep the character relevant to an increasingly Batman world? We’ll find out in June.
