In a somewhat terse announcement today, Lucasfilm has officially announced that the super popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon, currently airing on Cartoon Network will be ending with the current, fifth season.

They promise future “bonus content” to tie up loose ends, but to “Stay Tuned” for future updates on that content.

Additionally, the Star Wars based comedy series, Star Wars Detours from Robot Chicken lead Seth Green has been indefinitely postponed.

Given that Lucasfilm is now owned by Disney, and both cartoons were to be broadcast on a Disney competitor, not Disney’s male-oriented channel DisneyXD, the announcement should not come as a huge surprise, but is still a disappointment never the less - at least in the case of Clone Wars.

It’s not all doom and gloom, however! Lucasfilm does promise that they are working on “exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming.” Even money says that goes to ABC or DisneyXD.
