With the Summer 2013 production date for Guardians of the Galaxy fast approaching, casting news for the space faring Marvel Studios production is coming fast and furious (but not 2 Fast or 2 Furious).

After the announcements of Chris Pratt as Star Lord and ex-WWE star Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, the movie has found it’s lead female warrior, as the deadly assassin Gamora has been cast - the sultry Zoe Saldana.

Saldana, best known to sci-fi fans as the new Uhura in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek series, and the lead Na’vi Neytiri in Avatar, should thrive in the outer space adventure. We’ll have to see how she feels about being painted green, however.

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 1st, 2014 release.
