With two weeks until the release of Iron Man 3 (less than that in other countries around the world), Marvel Studios isn’t resting on their laurels - they’re steamrolling right ahead with the promotion of the next step of Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Thor: The Dark World.

A sequel to 2011’s Thor, directed by Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor, this sees Thor (Chris Helmsworth) battling across all of Asgard against some dark and evil elves, lead by Malekith, played by the 9th Doctor himself, Christopher Eccleston.  Returning from the first film are Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Natalie Portman as Thor’s earthbound love, Jane Foster, and of course, Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

The first poster was revealed exclusively by USA Today earlier today, and interestingly enough, is adapted from a casual photo taken during filming. That guy really does look like a superhero all the time.

Thor: The Dark World brings forth the power of the gods on November 8th. Expect the first trailer next week.
