I’ve gone on record here before as stating that the cast for Guardians of the Galaxy is looking like one of the most unique ever put together by Marvel Studios, and with yesterday’s scoop from Deadline.com, this continues to be true.

According to their tipsters, joining a sitcom star, a pro-wrestler, a character actor and one of the Na’vi will be….Academy Award Winning Actress Glenn Close.

Yes. Really.

Sayeth them, she’ll be joining the cast as the head of the Nova Corps.  What makes this particularly interesting to me is that John C. Reilly was rumored this past weekend for a similar role, so now I’m left wondering if he’s out, or if the entire Nova Corps will be made up of actors with extreme acting talent. BRING ON DANIEL DAY-LEWIS!

Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 1st, 2014 release.
