It’s hard to believe, but the company crossover event DC vs. Marvel is 17 years old, and while the content of the book isn’t remembered too fondly, many comic fans remember the amazing selection of Amalgam Comics released during the 3rd and 4th issues of the series.  These books combined Marvel and DC heroes into one universe, resulting in surreal mashups such as Dark Claw (Batman x Wolverine), Spider-Boy (Spider-Man x Superboy) and Super Soldier (Superman x Captain America).  These books were so successful that a second line of Amalgam one-shots were done in 1997.  But since then - silence, and given the harsh nature of the current DC/Marvel rivalry, we’ll probably never see these books - or reprints of them - again.

One comics fan, and talented artist, in particular - Eric Guzman clearly loved the Amalgam Universe, and has decided to return to it in a way, creating DC/Marvel Mashups of his own, including a combination I felt that they missed the boat on - Spider-Bat (Spider-Man x Batman).  Eric went the extra mile here, even creating an amazing rogues gallery for Spider-Bat (I love Doctor Octofreeze), and we’ve got the complete gallery of his designs below.  His art is clean and fun, and I’d love to see any of these characters come to life in a 21st Century Amalgam reboot.
