Just in time to cash in on the Zack Snyder name, the first trailer for 300: Rise of An Empire has launched.

Originally set for release this August, the film has been moved to March 2014, and while the visuals certainly seem stunning (director Noam Murro has done a great job of replicating the feel of the first film), I’m having a hard time finding a compelling reason for this film to exist.

If there’s any benefit, as simultaneously being a Prequel, Side-quel and Sequel (taking place before, during and after 300), this probably will be the definitive statement for the 300 franchise.

At the least, this film puts more Eva Green out into the world, and when is that ever a bad thing?
