Cartoonist Hope Larson Enters The World Of Film With BITTER ORANGE
Cartoonist Hope Larson has earned many an accolade in her storied career, which has included the successful solo books Salamander Dream and Chiggers, plus the graphic novel adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time, but now she’s set her sights on the world of filmmaking with a new short called Bitter Orange.
Set in the 1920’s, the eight and a half minute short stars Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) and James Urbaniak (The Venture Bros.) and is an absolute joy to watch. It’s been posted on Viimeo, and we’re proud to share it with you here.
Larson clearly has a future in filmmaking here, but clearly hasn’t forgotten her past in comics. The short’s poster (at the top of the post) is illustrated by Becky Cloonan, and is a perfect fit for the short film. Larson’s next directoral project is the first music video for Got A Girl, the musical combination of actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead and producer Dan The Automator.
