Mixing the director of Tarzan with the writer of Wreck-It Ralph, Disney’s big holiday release Frozen has a heck of a pedigree ahead of it. Add that the film features songs from the composer of The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q, and you have a CG animated film that could wonderfully warp children’s minds at the end of this year.

The first trailer hit yesterday, and features a focus on Olaf the Snowman and Sven the Reindeer, and reminds me much of the Ice Age teasers, but with the creative team involved, I expect something greater.

Here’s the film synopsis, and some stills from the movie:

Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph, presents Frozen, a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey — teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven —to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad), Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. The film also stars the vocal talents of Santino Fontana (as Hans) and Alan Tudyk (as Duke of Weselton).

The film is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and produced by Peter Del Vecho. Featuring music from Tony® winner Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Frozen is in theaters in 3D on November 27, 2013.
