On paper, the idea of a LEGO movie sounds ridiculous.  And that’s why you get Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, directors of 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs to make a movie out of them.

With a history of taking terrible premises and turning them into comedy gold, Lord and Miller are taking the world of LEGO to the silver screen with The LEGO Movie and with the first trailer released overnight, this looks…really damn good.

Starring Chris Pratt as the lead, a LEGO person named Emmet, he finds himself on a journey to save the LEGO world, which includes run ins with Batman (Will Arnett), Michaelangelo (yes, the Ninja Turtle), 2002 NBA All-Stars and uh, is that Morgan Freeman as God?

I’m not sure if the movie is CGI made to look like stop motion, or actual stop motion created with LEGOs, but either way, this, unexpectedly, looks like an absolute blast. The LEGO Movie hits theaters on February 7th, 2014.
