Alright, who had mid 90’s bad girl comic Avengelyne as the next comic to hit the big screen?

None of you? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Remarkably, however, one of the most maligned creations of comics superstar Rob Liefeld is moving forward as a film, with former MMA fighter turned movie star Gina Carano in place as the star.

Liefeld and Carano will be officially announcing the film at SDCC on Saturday (along with unveiling a poster), and the project is currently set to move forward although no studio is as yet attached.

Carano made her movie debut with Haywire and was last seen in the sublime Fast & Furious 6.  Personally, I would love to see her as Wonder Woman, but honestly, any strong female superhero franchise would be nice to see, no matter who the character is.  That said, I have a hunch this is about as likely to hit the big screen as the ill fated Robert Rodriguez/Rose McGowan Red Sonja remake…which also existed mostly as a poster and a pitch.
