Due out this Christmas, 47 Ronin has had a less than easy track to the big screen.

Originally set for release in November 2012, the film was pushed to February of this year, but now will finally see release in December.  Staring Keanu Reeves as an outcast named Kai, he joins a group of ronin (guess how many!) as they seek revenge.

The first trailer hit last week, and while I’m sorry for being delayed in writing it up, I can’t help but feel like you aren’t missing out on much. Because…uh, well. This looks really bland. Personally, after Pacific Rim, I can’t really see Rinko Kikuchi as evil, and while it’s clear that the films budget was definitely weighted toward the “visual effects” side of things, nothing here says “SEE THIS MOVIE IMMEDIATELY”. Maybe I’m wrong and the final flick will be worthwhile. Personally, I think it’s stuck against a stacked Christmas.  Check out the trailer below.

47 Ronin hits on December 25th.
