It’s been a big week of news for fans of the free-roaming crime game Grand Theft Auto, as with the release of the latest installment, Grand Theft Auto V, just being a month away, Rockstar Games is revealing details left and right, including the surprise reveal of the multiplayer component - Grand Theft Auto Online.

More than just a simple online extension of the game, a’la Grand Thef Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto Online is a perpetual online world for you and your fellow gaming hooligans to “explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or compete in traditional game modes with the entire community”.

Rockstar released a video to YouTube to explain how the Online component works, and it’s available below.

If that wasn’t cool enough, the team at Xbox360Achievements have dug up the official list of 38 achievements for the game, which - spoilers! - should explain some of the things that you’ll be doing in game.

Most of the achievements seem normal, but then some go off the deep-end, including “Out of Your Depth”, which seems to hint at shark hunting, and “From Beyond The Stars”, which involves collecting spaceship parts? Could this be the first GTA to go into orbit?

Time will tell! Grand Theft Auto V hits shelves on September 17th, with Grand Theft Auto Online launching for free on October 1st.
