Four movies into the Michael Bay helmed Transformers franchise, it should be very clear that this interpretation of Transformers is wildly different from the television show and comics from our youth.

Space battles are replaced with city destruction, and the robots eye view replaced with that of the humans that interact with them.

That said, I feel like Bay really hammered out the kinks in the last film, replacing the fart and poop jokes from the first two films with more action and destruction. Heck, up until The Avengers, I thought that Dark of the Moon’s Chicago battle was one of the finer large scale action sequences rendered on film.

Now, Michael Bay has returned, and from the looks of the trailer, the fourth installment of the franchise has two very key things going for it - Mark Wahlberg (who I’ve really turned a corner on, post The Other Guys and Pain & Gain) and the integration of - finally - the Dinobots.

Of course, if you’re still holding out for a Transformers movie similar to the animated film from the 1980s, you’re not going to be satisfied - but for what this is, this looks to be the best film in the series yet.

Transformers: Age of Extinction hits on June 27th.
