'Fast & Furious 7' Resumes Shooting, CG To Be Used For Paul Walker
With a new release date set for April 10th, 2015, production has resumed on Fast & Furious 7, delayed after the untimely death of franchise star Paul Walker.
The script has been re-written to reflect the eventual retirement of character Brian O’Conner from the cars and capers series, and according to the New York Daily News, any scenes that still require Walker will be handled using a mixture of body doubles and CG composites.
Similar technology was used to completeThe Crow in 1994 after Brandon Lee’s death, and even in times with living actors, such as providing Brad Pitt’s body in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and a believable 90 pound version of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger.
It’s a classy way to send Walker off, and an appropriate resolution to a difficult situation.
