'Indiana Jones' To Become An Adventuring 'James Bond'?
Last year, Disney pulled together the final piece of the Lucasfilm puzzle as they purchased the rights to all things relative to the Indiana Jones franchise from Paramount.
It was clearly more than a thoughtful gesture, as the rights included the ability to make new films.
So, what does this mean - we’re going to see a senior citizen Indiana Jones as played by a grumpy Harrison Ford?
Not necessarily. According to the (usually correct) rumor heads at Latino Review, the plan is to turn the Indiana Jones franchise into that of an American James Bond - meaning they can (and will) recast the lead to reflect the times.
Rumor places Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead, The Mist) in the driver’s seat for this reboot, along with Bradley Cooper (American Hustle) as one of the names discussed for the new hero.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Cooper as the lead, and the idea of “Bonding" the franchise is certainly a smart one. But we’ll have to see if the general public is so quick to accept, or if they take it as cinematic heresy.
