Lionsgate Announces 'Power Rangers' Film Franchise
The latest in Lionsgate’s attempt to take over the world, the film studio behind the successful young adult franchises Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent franchises will set their sights on a different realm - rebooting a 1990’s children’s superhero franchise.
That’s right, it’s time for a series of films built around the Power Rangers franchise.
Honestly, I can see why they’d do it. The property has name value, it’s got 20 years of fandom behind it, and it would fit perfectly in today’s superhero-filled multiplex.
That said, lets see if we can plan exactly what we’ll see with the movie. My guesses are below.
- The movie - while featuring none of the original cast - will have Jason, Tommy and the gang as the leads.
- The Green Ranger will setup the second film.
- Screw Angel Grove High, Angel Grove will get reduced to rubble in the third act Megazord battle.
- There will be random LOL REMEMBER THE 90s references.
- Everyone on the Internet will complain about it - but the opening weekend will near 9 figures.
