I never was a Planet of the Apes guy. Until Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Built around a remarkable motion capture performance by Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings), the movie was an incredible surprise to watch, setting a new tone for a classic franchise.

This July brings the sequel this reboot, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and it seems to set an awkward truce for the worlds of man and ape - the apes were left to their own accord, to build a life of their own. But clearly, that truce will be coming to a violent end.

Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) directs, and I fully expect this to be the sleeper hit of the summer.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11th.
