OK, so DC Comics has 4 new series coming next year, as we just posted.

But maybe the key isn’t quantity, but quality - or so Marvel Studios believes, as they broke the news last night that not only will Agents of SHIELD get a second season, but - perhaps more excitingly - Agent Carter has been picked up as a series on ABC.

Agent Carter, set to show the early days of SHIELD in the 1940’s, was first glimpsed in the fantastic short film of the same name attached to the Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray. Expect Hayley Atwell to return as Peggy Carter, and all sorts of retro-y goodness to ensue.

Between these network series, and the forthcoming Netflix shows, the Marvel Universe continues to grow in all media. Here’s hoping that this second season of SHIELD, plus the new series, work out better than the first has.
