If you’ve read my review of Godzilla just posted, I was very enthusiastic about Gareth Edwards' take on the classic Kaiju film.

Clearly, I wasn’t alone, as with a $93 Million opening weekend here in the states (the second best so far this year, just behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and a $103 Million opening weekend worldwide, the best of 2014, audiences are coming out in droves to see the Big G do his thing.

It’s probably not surprising then, to hear that Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros are formally discussing plans for Godzilla 2.

Reported over the weekend by Deadline.com, this sequel is very obviously in the early days, but I’d love to see one.

The question is - would we start to see additional legendary monsters from the franchise? I’d love to see a Mechagodzilla appearance at some point, but maybe that’s too far for this “realistic” take. Only time will tell.
