It’s got all of the standard trappings of a Michael Bay Transformers movie.

The robots look funky, some of the action is hard to understand, there’s mysterious evil older white dudes involved in something less-than-savory.

But there are two things that are selling me a (probably reduced price, matinee) ticket to Transformers: Age of Extinction.

  1. The sure to be far too earnest performance from Mark Whalberg.

  2. DINOBOTS. AND OPTIMUS PRIME RIDING A DINOBOT.

How can you mess with that? I can’t. That’s worth the price alone.

It’s going to be awful, but it’s going to be amazing along the way. Lets just hope the poop, pee and race humor is out of this installment.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens on June 27th.
