Despite the obvious thought of a Disney animated Marvel film when Disney bought the comic company in 2009, it’s taken 5 years for such a project to gestate - and that film is based on a rather obscure Marvel comic, Big Hero 6.

The first trailer for the film is set to debut this Thursday, but in the meantime, Empire Online received three stills from the superhero team film.  Based in the fictional city San Fransokyo, the film focuses on teenage inventor Hiro Hamada, who we see gearing up his robot Baymax in these three stills.

Personally, I find the franchise to be such a unique choice that I can’t wait to see what Walt Disney Animation Studios did with it, and following in the footsteps of Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph, the odds are good of a quality film coming out of this first Marvel/Disney team-up.

Big Hero 6 is set to hit theaters on November 7.
