Daily Blast: June 13th, 2014
In today’s Daily Blast: A creepy CGI Paddington Bear! Michael Keaton is…Birdman? Two Tom Hardys! Apple’s AWESOME Cafeteria! And Ice Cube yells nice things!
All that and more - just read on, dear reader!
Movies
- At the top of the post: the new IMAX poster for Transformers: Age of Extinction. I don't doubt that this movie will be awful, but I'm really stoked for the Dinobots.- In the upcoming October release Birdman, Michael Keaton plays…a washed up actor best known for playing a superhero. Where’d the fourth wall go?
- Oof. Looks like Harrison Ford got injured by the Millennium Falcon on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII.
- Home brings together an alien and an earthling in Dreamworks Animations next original film, due in March 2015.
- What’s better than one Tom Hardy? TWO Tom Hardy’s! And that’s what we’re getting in the forthcoming British gangster film Legend.
- The Dwayne-Johnson-Punches-A-Lion-In-The-Face-Epic Hercules will get an IMAX 3D release now.
- Rumor says that the box office for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was so underwhelming that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is getting pushed back to 2017.
- Tumblr is about to start loving country music: Tom Hiddleston (Thor: The Dark World) has signed on to star as country legend Hank Williams in I Saw The Light.
- With a realistic CG bear, Paddington is kind of a freaky looking adaptation of the children’s book series.
- Did you guys know Robert Downey Jr. does movies OTHER than Iron Man? Look for him as a lawyer defending his father in a murder case in this October’s The Judge.
The last Guardians of the Galaxy character poster has hit Fandango - it’s Chris Pratt as Star-Lord.
- Denzel Washington bring vigilante justice in this trailer for his remake of The Equalizer.
- Dreamworks Animation is giving the Penguins of Madagascar their own film, due out this November. The Madagascar franchise may never end.
Gaming
- The Angry Birds franchise continues to grow with Angry Birds Epic, the first RPG in the grumpy avian game series.
- The Kickstarter darling Broken Age has now arrived on the iPad.
- That’s some high quality E3 reporting, Los Angeles Times!
Comics
- It’s wise cracks versus trick arrows, as Hawkeye vs. Deadpool kicks off this October.
TV
- Hope you aren’t too attached to True Detective. Creator Nic Pizzolatto says he can only see the anthology series going for three seasons.
- Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever hits Lifetime this Christmas. Airing at 14:59, I assume.
- Cameron Crowe goes back to the rock music well with his new series Roadies, which has been picked up by Showtime (and produced by JJ Abrams' Bad Robot).
- Bumblebee takes the lead role in the forthcoming new Transformers: Robots in Disguise series.
- From last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, here’s Ice Cube saying nice things angrily.
Tech
- OK, so Apple has the coolest cafeteria ever.
Toys
- Mattel has extended their agreement with DC Comics to be their primary toy licensee. Expect toys for the comics, movies such as Batman v Superman, and even the Arrow and Flash TV shows in the near future.
Music
[www.youtube.com/watch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GD_D95Ekfg)- Weezer’s new album - which I will continue to hope will be the next Pinkerton, even though no album since has even touched it - will be titled Everything Will Be Alright In The End.
So ends another Daily Blast! See you back here on Monday!
