Daily Blast: June 27th, 2014
Aw yes! It’s Friday, and that means we’re finally at the end of the work week, and unfortunately, it’s your last Daily Blast of the week.
It’s a fun edition, although all news will probably pale in comparison to the Pacific Rim 2 announcement.
We’ve got SDCC exclusives, we’ve got Titanfall toys, we’ve got Judd Apatow’s return to TV, LOTS of Batman, and so much more!
CLICK THROUGH! READ THE INTERNETS!
At the top of the post:Â A shot from the newly opened “The Batman Exhibit”, now a part of the Warner Bros. Studios VIP Tour in Los Angeles. Gotta love that one of the promo shots is from the worst movie in the series.
Movies
- From the subscriber-exclusive cover of this month’s Empire, here’s a closer look at the baddies from Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Predator Update! Shane Black’s new Predator film will actually be a sequel. Not a reboot.
- Scoot McNairy (Argo) has joined the cast of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. No idea who he is playing though. Let’s mess with the internet and say - my sources tell me, he will be playing Green Lantern Corps member Ch’p!
- /Film has a look at Gallery Nucleus’s How To Train Your Dragon Art Show. Shield your heart, there’s a LOT of adorable here.
- In no way do I think Into The Storm will be good, or even worth seeing, but look at Matt Walsh (Veep) getting his action chops going!
TV
- Entertainment Weekly premiered a bunch of character posters for Gotham, FOX’s pre-Batman Batman series. What’s with Poison Ivy’s new name?
- Looks like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will be reviving their filmmaking reality series, Project Greenlight on HBO. Project submissions open up on July 24 on ProjectGreenlight.com.
- This 1980’s styled intro for Game of Thrones is pretty great.
- Netflix will be the exclusive US home to Knights of Sidonia, starting July 4. This marks the first Japanese animated series exclusively acquired by the streaming giant.
- Elden Henson (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) has joined the cast of Netflix’s Daredevil series, as Foggy Nelson!
- Rumor has it that Judd Apatow is finally working on a new TV series, his first since Undeclared. Titled Love, word is that it will debut on Hulu, and star Community’s Gillian Jacobs.
Gaming
- PlatinumGames (of Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising fame) have produced a downloadable game based on The Legend of Korra. Look for it on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC this Fall. Love that cel-shaded look.
Toys
- Square’s Play Arts Kai line will be getting a mech infusion with this awesome looking figure of a Titan from Titanfall. I really want to play that game. But, alas, I just have a PS4.
- Designer Eric So has created an adorable vinyl figure of Sin City’s Marv. Look for it in September.
- San Fran’s own Super7 is teasing some great SDCC exclusives, off of their big ReAction line with Funko.
Music
- BBC Worldwide Productions France and Canal+ are working together on a one-hour documentary about Daft Punk. I assume someone will be smart enough to bring this to the states. Or, of course, piracy will.
Enjoy your weekend, folks! See you on Monday!
