SDCC 2014: Marvel Announces 'Star Wars' Comics With AWESOME Creative Teams
After 20 years with Dark Horse, the Star Wars comics are returning to Marvel this January…which makes sense, considering they’re both owned by the same mouse now. At SDCC yesterday, during the “Cup O' Joe” panel, hosted by Marvel head Joe Quesada, Marvel officially announced its first three titles featuring that galaxy far, far away. January 2015 brings the ongoing Star Wars series, written by Jason Aaron (Wolverine & The X-Men) with art by John Cassiday (Astonishing X-Men), the first art from which is above. Feburary 2015 brings an ongoing Darth Vader title, scripted by Kieron Gillen (Young Avengers) and drawn by Salvador Larroca (Invincible Iron Man). Last, but far from least, is a Princess Leia mini-series, arriving in March 2015, with story by Mark Waid (Daredevil) and art by Terry Dodson (Harley Quinn). As you can see - Marvel is going all out with this franchise, and I’m pretty confident that these will not be the only three series to come from the House of Ideas.
