Daily Blast: August 27, 2014
Happy Wednesday folks! Excited to nab your comics for the week?
In today’s Daily Blast…
- Thor, meet Charlie.
- Donald Glover is finally Spider-Man
- You CAN'T KILL THE TANNERS
- Matt Fraction's ready to say farewell to Hawkeye
- AND SO MUCH MORE!
At the top of the post: That’s one of the many unused Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) designs featured over at /Film. Goddamn that movie was almost UGLIER.
Movies
- Of all duos, Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World) are signed to star in the reboot of the Vacation series, which will also star Ed Helms. Talk about a weird mix of cast. So long as Charlie Day is yelling though, I’m in.
- Technically, there is zero new footage in this new Interstellar trailer. Doesn’t stop me from re-watching it again and again, and NOR SHOULD IT STOP YOU, BECAUSE THIS IS AMERICA
- While there will certainly be a tasteful screen commemorating the life of Sir Richard Attenborough in Jurassic World, it’s good to know his amazing role as John Hammond was going to be made immortal either way.
TV
- #Donald4Spiderman, finally - Donald Glover (Community) will be voicing Spider-Man, as he appears as the Ultimate Universe’s Miles Morales in a forthcoming episode of Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors on Disney XD.
- The CW has released a pretty decent new poster for The Flash. I’m not really into Arrow, but I’ll be damned if I’m not excited about this.
- Oh god no. I KILLED YOUÂ FULL HOUSE! I WATCHED YOU DIE! I WATCHED YOU DIE!
Gaming
[www.youtube.com/watch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geSwmZAqkRQ)- The Pokemon Company, alongside Namco’s Tekken team, have announced an arcade fighting game, starring Pokemon. Seriously. It’s called Pokken Tournament, and it’s a license to print goddamn money.
-Â LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is officially set for a November 11, 2014 release.
- Awesome! According to Nintendo, Mario Kart 8 is getting more racers, including characters from Animal Crossing, F-Zero, and of course - The Legend of Zelda!
Comics
- Comic Book Resources got a great interview with writer Matt Fraction as he’s ready to say farewell to his fan-favorite run on Hawkeye. Gonna miss that book something fierce.
Toys
- Can these custom Destiny LEGO mini-figures (one for each class, Hunter, Titan and Warlock) become real? Guess it’s gonna take a LEGO Ideas push…
- I realize, the style is the gimmick, but I think I’d like these Spider-Man themed Disney Vinylmation figures WAY more without the ears.
- Another Hot Toys Iron Man 3 figure based on one of Tony’s many surplus armors, another chance to drool at the sure to be expensive shininess.
- Not as good as the NECA ones from a few years back, but Playmates' Mirage Comic-styled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures look pretty rad together, right?
Music
- Awesome nerdcore rapper (and, full disclosure, past-Super Art Fight musical guest) MC Frontalot has released a new album, designed for the kids. It’s called Question Bedtime, and it rules.
Smell you later, NERDS! See you TOMORROW!
