Daily Blast: September 3, 2014
Hello and welcome to your Wednesday Daily Blast! Hope your week is going well.
In today’s edition:
- Frozen cannot be stopped!
- Warner Bros/DC's plans may've been revealed by URLs.
- Netflix has plans for Gotham
- Explore the planets of Destiny
- AND SO MUCH MORE!
At the top of the post: Released on Monday, this Simpsons inspired “Frink Laboratories” print by Dave Perillo is pretty awesome.
Movies
- The cast of Disney’s Frozen will return in Frozen Fever, a short premiering in Spring 2015. According to Variety, the short is set during “Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."
- Interesting, apparently Marvel Studios rejected James Gunn’s original idea for Stan Lee’s Guardians of the Galaxy cameo.
- A new trailer for Monsters: Dark Continent has hit the internet, and it looks far more action packed than Gareth Edwards' more contemplative original. Unless this is really just made up of the film’s climax.
- If a list of newly registered domain names are any indication, Warner Bros has their next four DC Comics movies planned and ready to go.
-Â How To Train Your Dragon 3 is getting an extra year of training - the film will now be coming out on June 9, 2017. That reminds me, I still need to see the second one.
TV
- Sure to excite zombie heads all across the world, AMC has released the key art for The Walking Dead Season 5, which premieres this October.
- Netflix keeps snapping ‘em up:Â Gotham will now be exclusive to Netflix, with the first season premiering on the streaming service just in time for the second season premiere. I guess if it gets a second season? And I wonder if this means it won’t be airing on Hulu at all. Weird.
- Good news everyone! While it will not be a Flight of the Conchords sequel, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie are working on a new HBO comedy series.
- This is pretty cool - someone re-did the opening credits of Game of Thrones in a Saul Bass-esq style!
Gaming
- With six days to go until the release of Bungie’s long awaited shooter, Destiny, they’ve paired with Google to bring you Destiny Planet View. Think Google Street View, for the planets of the game, and you’ll get it.
- Looks like something else from PAX escaped us: here’s a new look at Mighty No. 9 gameplay from the show. I can’t wait to play it whenever it officially releases (I kickstarted this game).
- Get ready to throw down in a new Dead or Alive, as Dead or Alive 5: Last Round hits PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in Spring 2015.
Toys
- I feel it may be a little late, but Funko is releasing a new set of Thor movie inspired Pop! Vinyl figures this September, including this adorable Sif!
- A year after the film’s release, NECA is still producing high-end action figures for Pacific Rim. Due this January, their next figure is of the Kaiju Otachi, and it is a large-scale boxed figure that will be limited to JUST ONE production run. Get it fast if you want it, kids!
Music
[www.youtube.com/watch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv3RgbA2UTo)- TV On The Radio returns this Fall with a new album, Seeds, and they’ve released a lyric video for the first single, “Happy Idiot”. It’s a pretty good jam.
- Faith No More has reunited and is working on a new album, their first since 1998, set for an April 2015 release. Look for the first single - titled “Motherfucker” - on November 28th.
Ta ta for now! See you tomorrow with another Daily Blast!
