A dark-horse candidate for one of my most anticipated movies of the summer, the first trailer for the Amy Schumer written and starring/Judd Apatow directed Trainwreck has hit the web in both general audiences and red-band forms.

In Trainwreck, Schumer stars as the lead, a role that seems to turn the standard Judd Apatow tropes on their head - this time, it’s a restless woman who can’t commit and has a stable man (Bill Hader) come in and change her life. That’s intensely simplifying the plot portrayed, but it’s refreshing to see a director like Apatow become self-aware and work on a project that is the opposite of his norm.

The trailers look hilarious, with the witty yet raunchy writing Schumer has become known for with her stand up and Inside Amy Schumer, and holy crap, what casts - Vanessa Bayer getting a chance to step out of the SNL spotlight, Brie Lawson getting a nice supporting role, and of all people - Lebron James and John Cena looking hilarious?

I feel like Bridesmaids comparisons will come out regularly for this movie, but honestly, it just looks like a great, solid comedy. And while I’m one of the few who loved both Funny People and This Is 40, it makes me very happy to see Judd Apatow shaking things up.

Trainwreck hits theaters on July 17, 2015.
