In my eyes, our greatest hope for a truly wonderful, original film this Summer is Tomorrowland.

Yes, while it’s technically based on a Disney theme park attraction, it’s infusing a story and history to the attraction that never existed - sure to make it stand our among the sequels and remakes across the June-August time frame.

Even with me greatly anticipating some of those movies (Avengers, Mad Max, etc.), Tomorrowland has me excited specifically for everything that I don’t know about it. The first teaser trailer was about as perfect as teaser trailers can be, and this new trailer - just released yesterday by Disney - shows just a bit more to delight, but still is clearly keeping the movie’s secrets held tight..

I admit, I’m a softy for a “retro-futuristic” world, and I’ve been in George Clooney’s pocket since Ocean’s 11, but I think this movie is going to surprise us all this Summer.

I’ve seen critics and friends alike online question the movie, feeling like these teasers still haven’t shown them something big - but I almost wonder if that’s the point? These teasers remind me of those for movies like E.T. or Jurassic Park. Just enough to sell me the ticket and get me in the door.

With Brad Bird behind the camera, I know that the final film is sure to delight me. I guess I just worry how many of us will make the jump into the theater.

Tomorrowland releases on May 22, 2015.
