By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth! Benedict Cumberbatch is looking AMAZING as Doctor Strange!

Revealed yesterday by Entertainment Weekly - and promptly breaking the internet, in the best way - are these first look images from this November’s Marvel Studios release, Doctor Strange.

Arguably the biggest gamble yet by Marvel to take the leap from the comic page to the silver screen, these images of Sherlock“s Cumberbatch are sure to quiet down any doubters, as this is probably the most accurate visual transition, since Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man.

That said - much like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man, Marvel has an uphill battle with general audiences here. Strange has never been a big name character, nor an overwhelming favorite in the comics world. (Full disclosure, I, a huge nerd, actually consider Doctor Strange one of my blind spots.) But I think we’ve learned at this point to not doubt what Marvel can do. They’ve been unstoppable thus far, and the wise bet is not AGAINST them.
