20th Century Fox, via Jimmy Kimmel Live! has officially pulled back the hood on one of the most anticipated movies of the Christmas season - Assassin’s Creed!

Based on the hugely popular game from UbiSoft, the movie follows a new character - Callum Lynch - who, using futuristic technology, is able to experience the memories of his long lost ancestor, an assassin in 15th Century Spain.

This has the potential to be the first truly great video game movie adaptation, and I’m incredibly excited to see Michael Fassbender be the lead for a major franchise, such as this one. The trailer itself looks visually arresting, and a great translation of the popular game series (even if I haven’t played one since Assassin’s Creed II.) My only qualm is the odd use of Kanye West in the trailer.

Assassin’s Creed re-teams Fassbender with Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises) and director Justin Kurrzel, who he worked with on last year’s Macbeth remake.

In addition to the trailer above, an official poster for the film has been released, featured below.
