I can’t believe it - Pacific Rim 2 is really, actually happening.

While the road to the big screen for a sequel to the Guillermo del Toro robots vs. monsters modern classic has been a bumpy one, things started to look pretty, pretty good for the sequel, once Daredevil show-runner Steven DeKnight jumped on as director (with del Toro producing).

Now, a writer has been chosen to make it come to life.

Jurassic World scribe Derek Connolly has signed on to pen the picture.  Certainly, his experience writing giant dinosaurs fighting has prepared him to enter the realm of kaiju and jagers. Connolly has also written the script for Jurassic World 2 and the forthcoming King Kong reboot, Kong: Skull Island, so clearly, he is right for the role!

I guess I’m just sad that Guillermo del Toro will not be actively controlling the chaos this time around. Doesn’t mean it will be bad - just means it will be different.

Pacific Rim 2 does not have a set release date at this time, but I’ll update you as I learn more.
