Announced today on Disney’s Facebook page, via a Facebook Live video, 2012’s Wreck-It Ralph will be getting a much-anticipated sequel in 2018.

John C. Reilly (Step Brothers) will return as the titular video-game villain with a heroic heart, alongside Sarah Silverman’s Vanellope Von Schweetz.

Co-directed by Wreck-It Ralph director Rich Moore and Zootopia writer Phil Johnson, the sequel (which does not have an official title yet) will take Ralph and friends out of the arcades and into the lands of the Internet, as noted in the first, official image for the film (below).

The first film was essentially a Toy Story for the video game world (I loved it) and expanding the scale and scope into the online world is pretty much perfect for a follow-up. Unlike many movies these days, the Ralph world is one which was begging to be explored further, and I cannot wait to see what Walt Disney Animation Studios has planned.

Now, can we get Big Hero 7, next?

The Untitled Wreck-It Ralph Sequel hits theaters on March 18, 2018.
