Christopher Nolan's DUNKIRK - Announcement Trailer
Much in the spirit of the announcement teasers seen for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar, Warner Bros is giving us only the smallest of tastes of director Christopher Nolan’s next film - Dunkirk.
There’s a sense of forboding dread in the minute long teaser, but that’s about all I have.
Here’s what we do know so far - none of which, really, from the trailer:
- The film is set in Dunkirk, France, and is based on the real life Battle of Dunkirk during World War II.
- The cast includes a mixture of Christopher Nolan favorites (Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy), beloved actors (Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance), stunt casting (Harry Styles), and a relative unknown (Fionn Whithead) as the lead.
- Hoyte van Hoytema is returning as cinematographer, having worked last with Nolan on Interstellar.
- A real life, honest to God, World War II plane was destroyed for the film.
- The film was shot on 65mm stock, and will release in IMAX.
Dunkirk hits theaters on July 21, 2017.
