Oh boy, director James Gunn delivered us an embarrassment of riches today!

Next Summer, we finally get to see what Star Lord and the gang have been up to in the appropriately titled Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

When the first film hit in 2014, it was an absolute shock of a surprise, taking obscure Marvel characters and making them a worldwide phenomenon, mixing sci-fi action with brilliant needle drops from the 1970’s.

Other studios have tried to capture the magic created by Gunn and his incredible cast, but with the reveal of the teaser poster and “sneak peek" trailer today, there’s really no outdoing the original, is there?

Teaser Poster

The teaser poster for GotG Vol. 2 is a stark black and white image showcasing our heroes - including the new additions of former villain Nebula and Star Lord’s space dad, Yondu. What I really love about it? As I said on Twitter - the poster has the vibe of the promotional photos bands put out for their second album, the one that shows they’ve grown up and matured. This has that vibe, appropriate given how crucial music is to the series.

James Gunn wasn’t just going to give us a great image, though! He also dropped this fantastic first bit of footage. It’s a teaser trailer in the true sense - no plot, none of the new cast (like Kurt Russell) - just a taste of where our heroes now exist, and it’s just enough. That final shot of Rocket and Groot is going to have everyone giddy until next May.
