Marvel Comics promises a Fresh Start’
New series, new creative teams, new directions and new beginnings, promises a short announcement video on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube account today.Featuring Marvel Comics editor in chief C.B. Cebulski and chief creative officer Joe Quesada, the video is short on concrete information — though Marvel tells Polygon that more will be revealed later today and in the coming weeks.
While Cebulski’s promotion to editor in chief came with more than a little bit of controversy, I certainly hope this “Fresh Start" is the shot in the arm that Marvel needs, which has been an absolute slog to read compared to the nimble of the post “Rebirth" DC Comics.
I’m hoping that Marvel learns that the issue wasn’t the diversity and change of characters in their titles, but rather the far-too-connected nature of the comics, with everything being tied to a line-wide story arc which “changes everything!!!“
Here’s to being optimistic. I’ll read it all in 6 months via Marvel Unlimited.
