The Hollywood Reporter:

Disney's forthcoming direct-to-consumer streaming service is going to be a prime hub for remakes, reboots and all manner of familiar IP, at least according to early buzz about its initial film and television slate.

Headed by OTT programming chief Agnes Chu, the as-yet-unnamed service — envisioned as a competitor to Netflix — will be a home for family-friendly fare including Marvel feature films and such TV series as a live-action Star Wars (with multiple variations already in the works, per CEO Bob Iger) and, sources tell THR, a reboot of The Muppets.

I think that this would make for a great addition to the streaming service, but only if they attach someone to the project to run it who truly lives and breathes the Muppets. Practically everything since 2011’s The Muppets has been a wreck, and I’m pretty sure it’s because those projects didn’t have a Jason Siegel behind it - i.e., someone who absolutely adored the property.

Additional note - the above article also mentions that reboots of The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, and Honey, I Shrunk The Kids are being eyed for Disney’s streaming service…which better be called “The Disney Vault".
