The Hollywood Reporter:

CANCELED

Brooklyn Nine-Nine | While not a ratings breakout, the Andy Samberg cop comedy from exec producers Dan Goor and Mike Schur remains a critical favorite. Sources note the series went into its current fifth season with an eye toward an endgame. That the single-camera comedy is produced by an outside studio — Universal Television — did not help the series, which will not return for a sixth season.

This was an absolute heartbreaker last night. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the funniest, most diverse, most genuine, most consistently delightful shows on television, a true beacon of joy, and to see it wrap up - even with five seasons under its belt, and a TBS syndication deal which most likely means that we’ll see reruns for years to come - is a real punch to the gut.

But - for all of us saddened by this news - hope may not be lost.

Let’s let Deadline share the good news:

While done at Fox, Brooklyn Nine-Nine may not be gone altogether. I hear that there had been incoming interest from other outlets about picking up the show starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher.

Hulu, Brooklyn Nine-Nines SVOD home, is considered the most likely choice, and I hear there had been conversations about the show moving there.

Another potential home for Brooklyn Nine-Nine could be TBS, which in December picked up off-network rights to the comedy. The basic cable network is overseen by Kevin Reilly, who had developed and picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine while running Fox and is a big fan of the show.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! What’s that you say, The Hollywood Reporter?!

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Brooklyn Nine-Nine producers Universal Television have fielded a number of incoming calls from other outlets including Hulu (where the Andy Samberg comedy has an SVOD deal), Netflix (which has business with the studio, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), TBS (whose president, Kevin Reilly, developed the series and whose network airs off-network repeats of the comedy) and network sibling NBC.
Hulu - I love you. Netflix - I love you. TBS - I love you. NBC - I love you. Wherever Brooklyn Nine-Nine goes, I will follow.

NINE-NINE!
