Today was Apple’s big Worldwide Developers Conference (or WWDC for short), and in turn, we got to see the future of the operating systems for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac.

Here’s what we got (all links go to the official Apple Newsroom PR):

  • iOS 12 gets a Workflow like Siri Shortcuts option, improved AR functions (including group AR), Group FaceTime, more Animoji (including the Nintendo Mii-like Memoji), and a major focus on reducing interruptions and spending less time on your phone.
  • Watch OS 5 adds a Walkie Talkie option, Activity Competitions, Podcasts, Auto Workout Start and Completion, and (finally) 3rd Party details on the Siri watch face.
  • tvOS 12 now has Dolby Atmos sound and “Zero Sign On", whereby cable enabled TV apps automagically sign on based on the ISP you’re using. Of course, right now, that only works with one cable provider. *sigh*
  • macOS gets upgraded to Mojave, gets the long-awaited Dark Mode (complete with shifting Wallpapers based on time of day), Apple News integration, a properly upgraded Mac App Store (a’la iOS) and for those with messy desktops, Stacks!

That’s just high level - each press release has more details.

Betas for everything hit today, with the official launches in the Fall.
