BREAKING: James Gunn In Talks to Write and Direct Next SUICIDE SQUAD Movie

Warner Bros. has just confirmed to io9 that James Gunn is in discussions to write, with an eye to direct, the next installment of the Suicide Squad franchise. He’ll have a completely new take on the property.
Shots fired.
UPDATE: Updated headline to reflect the tentative nature of the deal.
Remember when DC/WB was going to have Joss Whedon do Batgirl? Not saying there’s nothing to this, but…let’s see how this plays out.
A lot of Suicide Squad seemed like it was trying to ape the Guardians vibe, with the needle drops and ersatz family. Gunn could make this work.
UPDATE 2: Sounds like this is a full on reboot.
