Disney’s Streaming Service Has a Name: Welcome Disney+ In 2019!
The Disney streaming service will make its splashy debut sometime in 2019, and now it has a new name: Disney+. CEO Bob Iger had previously referred to it as “Disney Play," but on an investor call earlier today, Iger revealed the official name of the streaming service which will be home to new Star Wars and Marvel content (among many other things).
This is a great info dump of everything happening with Disney+.
Among the highlights:
- First Star Wars series will be the aforementioned The Mandalorian and a series lead by Rogue One hero Cassian Andor
- Marvel Cinematic Universe mini-series are go, including a Loki series starring Tom Hiddlestom
- The app will be split into five “worlds": Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and National Geographic
Sounds pretty promising!
