The Hollywood Reporter:

Stephen King's most recent novel, The Outsider, is getting the HBO treatment.

The network has ordered to series an adaptation of the 2018 bestseller starring Rogue One’s Ben Mendelsohn. Jason Bateman will direct the first two episodes of the drama, which hails from studio MRC (also the studio on Bateman’s Netflix drama Ozark). He’ll also serve as an executive producer through his company Aggregate Films, which will produce the project alongside Temple Hill Entertainment.

The Outsider centers on a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a local boy that leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case.

I read the book version of The Outsider over the Summer, during my beach vacation.

It was really great, and the team assembled so far is super promising.

Please don’t screw this up, HBO.
