UNCHARTED Movie Adaptation REALLY Moving Forward This Time, Set For 2020 Release
Tom Holland’s video game adaptation “Uncharted" will be released on Dec 18, 2020, Sony Pictures announced on Thursday.
“10 Cloverfield Lane" director Dan Trachtenberg is set to direct. Trachtenberg replaces Shawn Levy, who departed the project due to scheduling conflicts. He’ll also take over a new draft of the screenplay written by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker. Joe Carnahan wrote the original draft.
Holland stars in the action-adventure film based on the PlayStation video game series about the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg was at one point attached to play the swashbuckling, Indiana Jones-type hero, but Sony opted for a younger take on the character.
Still weird to me that we’re going prequel here, but I love Trachtenberg as director, so we’ll have to see how this turns out.
