Stephen Amell Joins Starz’s Pro-Wrestling-themed Drama, HEELS
“Arrow" star Stephen Amell has lined up his next leading man gig: The longtime CW star has been cast on “Heels," an upcoming wrestling drama at Starz, a spokesperson for the pay TV channel tells TheWrap.
The series has received an eight-episode order with Michael Waldron writing and Mike O’Malley set as showrunner.
“Heels" is an hourlong drama about “the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling," according to Starz. “Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind."
Amell has been linked to the world of pro-wrestling for some time, actually working matches for WWE at their SummerSlam event in 2015, a match for Ring of Honor in 2017, and appearing for the future creators of All Elite Wrestling for their All In event last Fall.
I do wonder if that means he’s going to get Cody a role on the show as he did with Arrow?
