sunset over snow covered mountains

Hello and welcome to this, the latest relaunch of blast-o-rama., my blog that I’ve been piecing together since 20081.

We’ve been through quite a journey, this website and I — in fact, this latest shift moves us back from Micro.blog back to WordPress.2

But why this, and why now?

This year, this blog turns 18 years old. It’s an adult. And in the world of the internet, 18 years is almost infinite. So it’s time to feed more kindling to its flame.

The world is a tough place to be right now — not unlike the environment it was born in, in 20083 — and it’s not time to let things just get summed up in pithy comments from me. I liked doing this. I like doing this. And in a time where the internet and technology wants so badly to make stuff like this automated, it feels like an act of rebellion to say, “No, I’m gonna write this out myself.”

Now, this swap was made pretty hastily, and in turn, a lot of things are going look funky.

I’ve got to go back and reformat some posts from the Micro.blog days, and there’s images and such lost to the ages of time — not to mention weird formats and poorly aged takes and statements, but that’s the thing about being a fully-grown blog: we’ve gotten through our awkward years.

Anyway, look forward to a lot more of this here.

I’d love to hear what you think. Ping me on Bluesky, Mastodon, or via the Contact page.

Here come the takes, once more.

  1. 2001, if we are counting LiveJournal
  2. Yes, I know, Matt Mullenweg is pretty problematic, but I feel like I fight this platform less to get it to do what I want.
  3. Though, I admit this is worse.
